Vernaglia Nearing Decision

The Irish are looking for some linebackers this year and Anthony Vernaglia would be a good shot in the arm on the commitment list. The Orange County, CA product has visited Notre Dame recently an is nearing a decision. The 6-4, 220-pound athlete can play a number of position but linebacker is where most think he will end up. Will the Irish land Vernaglia?

Anthony Vernaglia is in decision mode. "We're coming along. We've been talking about it a lot. I really can't say when I will decide. I've been thinking about Notre Dame and Virginia."

Is Anthony down to Notre Dame and Virginia? "Yeah, I think I'm down to these two schools. It's a very hard decision to make."

Vernaglia does seem torn between both schools. "Notre Dame and Virginia are very similar. The big difference is that Notre Dame is world renowned. Virginia is on the rise and it would be cool to be a part of that. At Notre Dame you have all that tradition and it's every kid's dream to play at Notre Dame. It's going to be a hard decision."

Vernaglia said he might talk to the coaches again before making his decision. "I might talk to them again. I don't really need to because I know everything I need to know. I don't know if it's just going to hit me one day or what. My parents and I have been talking about it a lot."

When can we expect a decision? "I would say in two weeks I might be able to come up with a decision."

Comments. Reading the comments one would think that Notre Dame should win this but I do think this race is very close. The comments make you believe Notre Dame but if it were that easy, he would have already made the decision. Something is standing in the way. I do know that the Irish are recruiting him as a linebacker from what he has told me in the past. I also know that he likes playing wide receiver. Maybe the problem is that Virginia wants him as a receiver and he would prefer to play receiver.
