Incarnato Close to Decison

Chauncey Incarnato was relatively unknown in May by most recruiting experts and coaches. The 6-7, 280-pound Dover, OH prospect doesn't play the highest level of competition but that hasn't stopped many college coaches from offering. Incarnato camped at Notre Dame, received an offer and now he is close to making a decision. Will Incarnato choose Notre Dame?

Chauncey Incarnato has seen his stock take off since May. "I have offers from Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Syracuse, Maryland, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Miami of Ohio, Minnesota, Ohio and Louisville."

Incarnato received his offer after attending Notre Dame camp. "It was beautiful. It's a nice campus and they have nice facilities. It's like the place is paved in gold. I like the tradition there. Notre Dame represent what college football is all about. I spoke to Coach (Tyrone) Willingham for a long time and I love the way he thinks. His attitude is amazing. We talked about the character of the players he wants and the education. He said noboby will ever be told they will start right away and I have to earn it. I really liked what he had to say."

The other school competing for his services right now is Pittsburgh. "Pitt is close to home. I'm reall close to my family so that would be nice for them to see me play. They have a real good program and it would be a good fit for me."

Incarnato says that Maryland and West Virginia are in the race but the Irish and the Panthers are his top two schools.

The Ohio product plans to visit both Notre Dame and Pittsburgh again. "I didn't get a chance to speak much with Coach Harris when I was there. I just shook his hand and talked to him briefly. I did talk to the offensive line and defensive line coach a lot and I really liked both of them."

Incarnato spoke about the positives of each school. At Notre Dame, it's the lure of the program. They have so much tradition, the 11 National Championships, the Heisman Trophies and you can go anywhere in the country with their education. Coach Willingham is also another big postive for them. At Pitt, it's close to home and I really like their coaches. I feel like I could fit in well there."

A decision should be coming fairly soon. "I would say in three weeks or so. I want to visit both schools again. I might visit Vanderbilt and see what they have to offer. I just want to talk to everyone one more time and then try to decide."

Could Incarnato make a decision today if he had to? "I'm not sure. I would probably have to flip a coin. I like both schools a lot."

Comments. Coach Willingham did an excellent job of selling Notre Dame to Incarnato. He seems very impressed in all aspects of everything about Notre Dame. Pittsburgh is still a player in the race but I think the Irish have the slight lead here. Anything can change in the next few weeks but I would be surprised if he didn't choose Notre Dame.
