Watkins Wants Closer Look At Irish

One of the early names in Ohio for the 2014 recruiting class is planning a visit this weekend with Notre Dame. IrishEyes.com spoke with Dareian Watkins about his interest in the Irish.

With at least ten scholarship offers already extended his way, Galion (Ohio) athlete Dareian Watkins will next check out Notre Dame this weekend when they play Wake Forest.

Who has Watkins been talking with on the Irish staff?

"I'm not sure who the coach is from Notre Dame," said Watkins. "I would have to check with my dad as he's taking care of all these things."

Having visited several programs this fall, Watkins is already impressed with the Irish prior to visiting.

"I'm impressed with all the prestige of Notre Dame," said Watkins. "They have a great history football wise and academically and I know they have parts of gold chips in their helmets."

Standing 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Watkins is being recruited to play a couple of different positions and already holds offers from several Mid American Conference and Big Ten programs early.

IrishEyes.com will check back with Watkins about his Irish visit on Sunday.
