Five Answers: Wake Forest

Brian Kelly saw his team dominate before watching two teams ranked ahead of the Irish fall Saturday night. That opened the door to a "win and in" scenario for Notre Dame to play for the National Championship. We posed five questions prior to the game and now have the answers.

Q. Will emotions get the best of the Irish putting them in jeopardy of losing their first game of the season?

No!!! Notre Dame did a great job of turning their emotions into their best home performance of the season giving the Irish faithful a great show and first unbeaten home campaign since 1998.

Q. Can the Irish defense hold Wake Forest to under 10 points on the game?

Yes!!! Not only did the Irish hold the Demon Deacons to under ten points, they shut them down posting their first shutout of the season.

Q. Will the Irish offense correct their turnover issues from last week?

While I'm sure Brian Kelly was not happy with the interception thrown by Everett Golson, I'm sure he's happy the Irish had no fumbles on the day. So overall we'll have to say yes to this question.

Q. Can tight end Tyler Eifert pull down five catches against Wake Forest allowing him to break Ken MacAfee's 35-year school record?

Yes! Eifert's six catches moved him ahead of MacAfee in career receptions by a tight end and leaves him 49 yards short of catching him in receiving yards.

Will the Irish stay undefeated earning their 11-th victory of the season while setting the stage for a classic battle next week against USC?

Yes!!! Not only did the Irish win their 11-th game of the season setting the stage for a big game against USC. But losses by Kansas State and Oregon mean an Irish win means a trip to the National Championship game. Top Stories
