Four-star OT Byrne Close to Deciding

St. Ignatius High (Cleveland) class of 2014 four-star offensive tackle Jimmy Bryne is close to making a decision, and has the latest on his recruitment.

St. Ignatius High (Cleveland) class of 2014 four-star offensive tackle Jimmy Byrne is close to choosing his college destination, but he's not quite there, according to his coach.

However, St. Ignatius coach Chuck Kyle said it could come in the next two weeks, and it will be either Notre Dame or Ohio State.

"Jimmy is getting close to where h wants to make a decision, but it's not done yet," Kyle said. "It's two schools that it is down to, Notre Dame and Ohio State, and some people saw Notre Dame (assistant Harry Heistand) walk in (to school) but he was just getting information.

"It's not done yet, but I think Jim is close. I don't know when he's going to do it, but I think it's going to be pretty soon. Just talking to him little bit, he's kind of fed up with it a little bit."

Byrne is ranked as the No. 14 offensive tackle in the class by FOXSportsNEXT and has been recruited hard by the Irish and most of the Big Ten, and there is good reason.

"He's athletic. Here's a guy who is 6-4, 285 pounds and he's athletic," Kyle said. "He can be a center, he can be a guard and honesty, he can be a tackle. I think they look at a kid who is smart, very coachable and that blows the doors off all these people.

"He's from a great family, humble …they'd like just get this done and get a great education." Top Stories
