Two-sport Hubbard high on Irish

With a football state championship under his belt, Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller's Sam Hubbard will have some decisions to make going forward when it comes to a commitment to Notre Dame.

During his sophomore lacrosse season, Sam Hubbard was considered one of the state's top midfielders and issued a commitment to Notre Dame.

Now the 6-foot-6, 210-pound Hubbard is coming off a successful football season where he helped Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller capture the Division One championship Saturday night.

"I'm committed to play lacrosse at Notre Dame," said Hubbard. "But I'm now keeping my options open. It's going to be a hard decision I'll have to make but it's a good situation to be in."

After going through the grind of a 15-week high school season Hubbard found the conclusion rewarding.

"This is the greatest feeling I've ever had," said Hubbard. "After 322 days of weight lifting and conditioning it all pays off in one night and to spend it with the people I see every day is no better feeling."

As for his future in football Hubbard is now willing to look at other options.

"I'm going to get my film out and try and talk with some coaches and see what happens," explained Hubbard. "I'll definitely consider playing football in college and understand attending any college is a privilege. But I'm interested in schools like Notre Dame, Stanford and Duke and feel all would be great options for me."

With a full understanding of what Notre Dame has to offer Hubbard would place the Irish high on his list if they showed interest in football. Top Stories
