Helm gets graded by the Irish
Chatham (Ill.) Glenwood tight end Daniel Helm says he's hearing all good things from Notre Dame's staff. "I talked to Coach [Chuck] Martin on the phone about two weeks ago before I visited campus," Helm said. "He said my grades said offer, character said offer, and tape said offer. I think they wanted to do an evaluation of me in person before they actually offered." Helm visited Notre Dame last week, and he gave his time there a great review. "I went to Notre Dame briefly," he said. "It went really well. I really liked all the coaches, and I got a tour of the practice facilities." Helm has nine offers, including Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, North Carolina State, Ole Miss, Nebraska and Tennessee. Out of the nine, does Helm have a favorite? "I would say Michigan is leading right now," the 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end said. "If Notre Dame offers, they are definitely up there. I really like their offense because it's pro-style. They have everything else you could want, like coaching, academics and tradition." Helm says he doesn't currently have any other visits planned because he's busy with basketball. However, he's still heavily involved in the recruiting process and hearing from quite a few schools. "I think Notre Dame, UCLA, and Ohio State might be close to offering. I'm hearing from Wisconsin a lot too," he said. So far, Helm has visited Wisconsin, Illinois, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Michigan State.
