Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey has regularly guided his squad through an arduous Big East regular season with a dance ticket to March Madness the end result.
Now the Irish need to stay past their usual early curfew.
That task starts Friday when the #7 seed Irish take on #10 Iowa State in Dayton, Ohio. The Cyclones finished 22-11 and fourth in Big 12 play with an 11-7 mark, losing in the conference semi-finals to eventual #1 seed, Kansas.
The winner of the contest will likely draw the #2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes, tournament champions in the Big 10 and No. 2 in the league's regular season standings. Ohio State must first beat #15 seed Iona, 20-13 overall and champions of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
The Irish are 6-8 in NCAA Tournament play under Brey, last advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2003. Prior to '03, Notre Dame had not played in the Sweet 16 since 1987.
