IrishEyes Watch List 3/19
1. DE Andrew Trumbetti… 4-star; Scout 300 (133)… Demarest, NJ (Northern Valley Regional-Demarest)… 6'5", 220… Notes: Has long favored the Irish and has put them No.1, but Florida has made quite the impression on Trumbetti in recent weeks, and he came away from his visit to the Swamp pretty blown away. Told IrishEyes he would like for his mom to see Florida before he makes a decision, and he would like to visit Stanford. VISIT DATE: March 23. A few months ago, a junior day commitment was very possible; however, chances of that happening have decreased. 2. RB Elijah Hood… 4-star; Scout 300 (63)… Charlotte, N.C. (Charlotte Catholic)… 6'1", 215… Notes: Most notable news of recent on the Hood front has been the push that North Carolina has made, jumping ahead of Michigan and Ohio State to No. 2 (behind ND) on his list after North Carolina junior day. I wouldn't be surprised to see him hold off a little longer than expected on a final decision until he is completely sure about where he wants to go. With the jump UNC has made, Hood has not been shy about expressing distance and location as a factor. It would not be shocking, even if he ultimately ends up committing to/signing with the Irish, if UNC takes a lead in the race at some point. A return visit to Notre Dame might happen this spring, but it won't be for junior day or the spring game. 3. TE Jeb Blazevich… 4-star; Scout 300 (284)… Charlotte, N.C. (Charlotte Christian)…6'5", 240… Notes: His top 6 (no order): Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss. Has set a personal deadline of June 1 to decide. His brother attends Clemson, but Blazevich says that won't be a deciding factor. We should know more about if Notre Dame has a legit shot here after this weekend. VISIT DATE: March 23. 4. TE/WR Nic Weishar… 3-star… Chicago, Ill. (Marist)… 6'5", 200… Notes: Visited Michigan last weekend with his parents and came away very impressed. It's believed Michigan and Notre Dame are the frontrunners, and he's familiar with both, but in a recent interview with our Michigan site, Weishar hinted that a decision may not come until after the summer. VISIT DATE: April 13. 5. OT K.C. McDermott…4-star; Scout 300 (16)…Wellington, Fla. (Palm Beach Central)…6'6", 280… Notes: Has Notre Dame and Miami as his leaders. Has family connections at both schools. Headed to Miami's spring game. VISIT DATE: during his spring break, March 26. He's already been to both schools, so you have to think he's nearing a decision. 6. OT Alex Bars…4-star; Scout 300 (225)… Nashville, Tenn. (Montgomery Bell Academy)…6'6", 286… Notes: Notre Dame legacy with offers from all over. Irish should like their chances here. Before he expects to make a decision late spring or summer, he has said he wants to visit South Carolina, Ohio State, Florida, and Tennessee. VISIT DATE: March 23. 7. OG Sam Mustipher… 4-star; Scout 300 (61)… Olney, Md. (Our Lady Good Counsel)…6'3", 286… Notes: High on Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, and Maryland. Expect an early decision. VISIT DATE: early April… also visiting Ohio State during that trip, he'll likely compare the two visits and have a leader (even if he doesn't name it) after that trip. So, important visit for the Irish if they want to hold the edge heading into the end of spring over the Buckeyes. 8. DT Enoch Smith Jr…3-star…Chicago, Ill. (Mount Carmel)… 6'2", 265 Notes: Notre Dame is still considered the leader, but Smith Jr. told IrishEyes that Michigan State and Tennessee are making a strong push. Plan on him making a decision before his senior year. VISIT DATE: April 13
