According to La Mirada coach Mike Moschetti, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound Luatua will make a visit to campus, and is likely to take an official visit to campus in the fall.
"He's still feeling his way through this whole process and to take some unofficial visits," Moschetti said. "I recently talked with his family, and he's going to make all five of his official visits and make a decision at the end of the year."
"Notre Dame is definitely in the mix," Moschetti said. "The last time we talked about it that was going to be one of his official visits. Tyler said a while back he was going to take an official visit to Notre Dame. His plan from the get-go was he was going to trip to Notre Dame. I don't know how it got changed in one interview."
The four-star Luatua is the No. 2 tight end in the class, and his impressive offer list spans the top programs across the country.
And while schools throughout the Pac-12 are recruiting Luatua hard, he could wind up going anywhere in the country.
"When you go away from home, you grow as a person," Moschetti said. "You grow as a man. You're a little mentally tougher when you go away from home. We've talked to our kids about that. Not telling them to go away from home, but just explaining that."
