Booker: Notre Dame is "different"
Linebacker Dante Booker of Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary made his second visit to Notre Dame this spring when he visited on Saturday with his father for the Blue & Gold game. "The game was a lot of fun, we had a good time," Booker said. "A lot of fans were out there even though it was cold. I got to watch the linebackers, and I liked how the defense won. I talked with a few other recruits. I got to know [Notre Dame commit] Jay Hayes, and he's a real cool guy. He's trying to recruit me." Booker said he was excited to talk with the coaches, and that the feeling was mutual. "The coaches were pretty excited to see me," Booker said. [Defensive coordinator] (Bob) Diaco and [head coach] (Brian) Kelly talked with me for a while. I don't really want to put out the specifics of exactly what we talked about, but they want me to come to Notre Dame. Diaco likes how well I run and he likes my skill set." The 6-foot-3, 217-pound linebacker says he doesn't have a list of favorites right now, but he'll be ready to focus on a few specific schools in the near future. "I don't have any favorites right now," Booker said. "But, I'll be narrowing my list pretty soon. I will probably come out with four or five favorites. I plan on taking official visits right now, but you never know, things could change and I could decide before then." "How the coaches treat me and what kind of guys they are bringing in for 2014 will be factors [in my decision]," Booker said. "The environment and how comfortable I feel there will also matter." Does Notre Dame have a good shot of making the cut? "Yeah, they do," Booker said. "Definitely." Booker says he sees something unique in Notre Dame. "Notre Dame is different than the other schools that are recruiting me," Booker said. "The academics stand out and they are smaller. I've been there twice this spring, and I've had a really good time on each visit." What's up next for the four-star linebacker? "I don't have visits set up for sure right now, but I may visit Ohio State," he said. Booker is ranked as the No. 8 outside linebacker in the 2014 class.
