Brey's 2013 Additions

With the spring signing period for high school seniors ending on Wednesday, takes a look at the four prospects that inked with Notre Dame, and how they'll fit in with the remainder of a roster that's ACC-bound.

Notre Dame's 2013 Signing Class

SF/SG V.J. Beachem (6'6", 175) - Four-star & No. 17 ranked small forward - New Haven, Indiana

The skinny: When he gets hot from deep, Beachem is hard to guard. He can play inside and outside and creates obvious matchup problems. His range is his biggest asset, but he can be aggressive heading to the rim and drawing contact.

Signed with Notre Dame over: Butler, Iowa, Purdue

PG Demetrius Jackson (6'1", 185) - Four-star & No. 6 ranked point guard - Mishawaka, Indiana

The skinny: A true point guard, Jackson can beat you off the dribble and find ways to score around the rim. A floor general in transition, he finds his open teammates with ease, and his athleticism, physicality, and quickness is hard to beat. A McDonald's All-American, Jackson is a smart, well-spoken guy that has potential to become the face of the program.

Signed with Notre Dame over: Butler, Florida State, Illinois, Kansas, Louisville, Memphis, and Michigan State

PF Austin Torres (6'7", 195) - Two-star - Mishawaka, Indiana

The skinny: Torres was without a division I offer this time last year, but Notre Dame liked what they saw out of the athletic hometown kid, and offered Torres their last scholarship for the class. Torres grew up a Notre Dame fan, and switched his commitment from Central Michigan. He played on the same AAU team (MBA Select) as fellow Irish signee Demetrius Jackson, so Mike Brey was able to see plenty of Torres. He won't see a lot of time next year, but he's got a great upside and could end up being a program guy that fills a hole down the road due to his versatility.

Signed with Notre Dame over: Central Michigan, Navy, IUPUI, Eastern Kentucky

SF Steve Vasturia (6'5", 185) - Four-star & No. 22 ranked small forward - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The skinny: He's got the basketball IQ that gives him a leg up on competition as well as the shooting touch from outside that gives him an added dimension. A multi-talented wing, Vasturia won't wow you with athleticism, but he rarely makes a mistake, and he's is the most consistent and well-rounded player the Irish signed.

Signed with Notre Dame over: Boston College, Davidson, La Salle, Temple, St. Joseph's (PA)
