Recruiting Reset: The Running Backs begins a position-by-position breakdown of recruiting the 2014 class, and it starts with the running backs.

Notre Dame holds a commitment from Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic High running back Elijah Hood, but the Irish's running back recruitment isn't over.

Notre Dame continues to look hard at running backs, and takes a look at the uncommitted running backs holding offers and on the board.

Leonard Fournette, St. Augustine High, New Orleans
Skinny: The nation's top player can pick anywhere in the nation, but it is telling the schools he visited four schools – Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Texas – and the Irish don't appear to be in the picture.

Joe Mixon, Freedom High, Oakley, Calif.
Skinny: Mixon is trying to trim his list to 10 schools in the coming week and the Irish have been recruiting him hard, but it still seems like an uphill battle for Notre Dame. Never say never, but this will be a tough one for the Irish to land.

Curtis Samuel, Erasmus Hall, Brooklyn
Skinny: The Irish made his top five, as did Alabama, Ohio State, Miami and Rutgers. He can play receiver, safety and running back, and is being recruited by an athlete. Getting to campus will be crucial for Samuel and the Irish since he already had to cancel one visit.

Derrell Scott, Havelock (N.C.) High
Skinny: Scott named a top five of South Carolina, Florida State, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Clemson, but other schools continue to recruit him hard as well. Getting him out of the south will be tough for the Irish, which he likes what the school represents.

Nathan Starks, Formerly of Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas
Skinny: At one time, it looked like Notre Dame was in very good shape for Starks, whose former teammate, Ronnie Stanley, is at Notre Dame. However, Starks was kicked out of Bishop Gorman, which will make it very tough for the Irish to take him.

Donte Williams, Hillside High, Durham, N.C.
Skinny: Williams is visiting Notre Dame in early June, and Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Georgia and West Virginia were in his top six.

Tommy Mister, St. Rita High, Chicago
Skinny: Mister is a classic example of not putting too much stock in early offers. The Irish offered early, and then stopped recruiting Mister. Top Stories
