Keihn still interested in the Irish

Linebacker Melvin Keihn of Baltimore (Md.) The Gilman School talks about his current interest level in Notre Dame, schools he's hearing from the most, and what his decision timetable looks like.

Linebacker Melvin Keihn of Baltimore (Md.) The Gilman School has yet to schedule a visit to Notre Dame, but he remains interested in the Irish.

"Notre Dame has great academics and I'm really interested in the programs that they offer for engineering," Keihn said. "They have a great football tradition and overall program."

"I'm very interested in Notre Dame," Keihn added. "I'm still open at this point."

Keihn is being pursued by many ACC programs, including Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech and he likes the idea of Notre Dame adding a few of those schools on their schedule each year.

"I think it's good that Notre Dame is moving to the ACC," Keihn said. "It will make the ACC stronger and provide good competition for Notre Dame."

Keihn is being recruited by Notre Dame assistant Scott Booker.

"Coach Booker is a nice guy and he's really energetic every time he talks with you," the 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker said. "They like me at outside linebacker and tell me they can do a lot of different stuff with me and that I would be very useful in their defense."

Keihn visited Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Maryland and Rutgers this spring, but he has no immediate plans to make a decision. He says he's hearing most from Maryland, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

"I plan on taking my official visits, but I have no timetable," Keihn said. "During the fall, I will take official visits to my top five schools."

Keihn is a 3-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 34 outside linebacker in 2014. Top Stories
