2015 shooting guard likes the Irish

INDIANAPOLIS - 2015 shooting guard Rex Pflueger of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei is quickly rising to the scene as a top-notch prospect as he strings together impressive performances on the summer circuit. Pflueger talks about his relationship with Notre Dame and what he likes about the Irish.

Rising junior shooting guard Rex Pflueger made a splash and turned heads in the Adidas Invitational in Indianapolis this weekend. Not merely known for his versatility in knocking down shots, Pfluger is a lock down defender, solid passer, and well-equipped leader.

Pfluger says recruiting is starting to pick up as more coaches see him play this summer. Notre Dame is one school he's in frequent contact with.

"I talk with [Notre Dame assistant] (Martin) Ingelsby a lot," Pflueger. "He's a great guy. I am trying to get out there for a visit, and even though nothing is planned, I would really like to. Notre Dame is a Catholic school, and my faith is something that is important to me. They're also such a great school."

"I also really like Notre Dame's style of play a lot," Pfleger added. "They get everyone involved on offense and really are a run and jump kind of team. They are going to do great in the ACC."

Pfluger's lone offer thus far is from USC, where his older brother will walk on next season.

Pfluger's lone offer right now is from USC, where his older brother will be a walk-on next season. He's also hearing from Gonzaga, Harvard, San Diego State, Stanford, UCLA and Yale.

"I like USC, and it's close to home, but I am keeping my options open throughout this entire process," Pflueger said.

Pflueger is a three-star prospect.
