Holland eyeing Notre Dame visit
Rising junior Jeffery Holland of Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy visited over 10 schools this summer, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina, Tennessee, USC and Virginia Tech. "The only school that I'm considering that I didn't visit this summer was Notre Dame," Holland said. "I really want to visit Notre Dame, though. I will probably visit for one of their games this season, but I still need to talk to my family about it." "I like how much football tradition Notre Dame has," Holland added. "I also like how they use their linebackers and how good their defense is every year." Holland came close to committing to a school earlier this summer, but he decided to pump the breaks on an early commitment and take his recruitment into the fall. "I'm going to commit whenever I feel like the time is right," Holland said. "I'm not going to put a time limit on it. It will be whenever I feel like I don't want to wait any longer." The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker stays in touch with Notre Dame recruiting coordinator Tony Alford. "Coach Alford likes my speed, my athleticism, and how explosive I am," Holland said. "Notre Dame is recruiting me as outside linebacker and that's the position I want to play in college. I can play linebacker at Notre Dame because I'm good at coming off the edge and rushing, but I'm also good at dropping into coverage." "I'm going to look at the people that are around me, like teammates and coaches," Holland said. "I just want a place where I feel comfortable, but location isn't going to matter." Holland will visit Florida on Friday for the Gators' Friday Night Lights, but he doesn't plan on participating in camp. "Florida is the only school that I'm visiting in the future that I know of," Holland said. "The school next on my list to schedule a visit is Notre Dame. I've heard all good things about that school."
