Hickey's latest edition of the Big Board focuses on the top offensive prospects the Irish are in best position to land. As August approaches, prospects' scheduled official visits start to separate the contenders from the pretenders.
Today's review is of the program's top targets on offense:
Hickey's Top TE Targets
-- 4-star Tyler Luatua
(La Mirada, California): Luatua has set two official visits: Notre Dame
the weekend of Oct. 17 and Alabama the weekend of Oct. 9. He's also planning on taking official visits to Ohio State and Texas. Alabama and USC are the primary competition, and his older brother plays for the Tide, but Notre Dame is in the best position to land him right now all things considered.
-- 4-star Dalton Schultz
(South Jordan, Utah): Has a top five of Notre Dame, Oregon State, Stanford, Utah and Washington. He has visited every school in his top five except for Notre Dame, though he will give the Irish an official visit. Stanford has long been the team to beat for Schultz, and the Irish need to make up some ground during his visit if they want to land him.
Hickey's Top RB Targets
-- 5-star Joe Mixon
(Oakley, California): He has scheduled offical visits to Texas A&M and Oklahoma and has said Georgia will also receive and official. Mixon doesn't plan to decide until next January, but the Irish's chances of securing an official visit are slim.
-- 4-star Donte Thomas-Williams
(Durham, North Carolina) – Has Notre Dame in his top three, but Clemson and West Virginia have the edge over the Irish. Williams says he will give Notre Dame an official visit, and if the Irish want to add a second running back in this cycle, they could afford to up the heat on Thomas-Williams' recruitment heading into the season.
Hickey's Top OL Targets
-- 4-star OT/OG Damien Mama
(Bellflower, California): Mama recently narrowed his list to 13, and it includes Notre Dame. Right now, he has one official visit scheduled and that's to Alabama. Mama has said he must consider if he can see himself living in South Bend for four years, which is why it's important the Irish secure an official visit if they are to have a shot at landing him. Other primary schools in contention are BYU, California, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Washington and Wisconsin.
-- 5-star OT Braden Smith
(Olathe, Kansas): Still considering Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and TCU. His only visit this summer was to Alabama, but he plans on taking at least a couple of official visits, and the Irish are in good position to land one.
Hickey's Top WR Targets
-- 4-star Mark Andrews
(Scottsdale, Arizona): Though he's been relatively quiet on the recruiting front this summer, the Irish are still in the race to land Andrews. He's being recruited the hardest by Arizona, Arizona State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Andrews is teammates with quarterback Kyle Allen, who is pushing for him to join him at A&M. His only visit this summer was to A&M, and the Aggies and Sooners may be in best position for Andrews. He has said he has no timetable for decision, so the Irish are vying for an official visit.
-- 4-star Erik Brown
(Fontana, California): A Washington State commit, Brown has said he will still give the Irish an official visit this fall.
-- 5-star Malachi Dupre
(New Orleans, Louisiana): Favors LSU, but has told FOX Sports NEXT, he plans on giving Notre Dame an official visit. He's also high on Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State and UCLA. The Irish figure to have an uphill battle to land Dupre, but he's a primary target because he's an elite prospect.
-- 5-star Adoree Jackson
(Gardena, California): Has a top 10 of Florida, Florida State, Illinois, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, UCLA and USC. He can play both sides of the ball, but wants to play receiver in college. Jackson is a track star, and that will factor into his decision. He has yet to name official visit destinations.
-- 4-star Allen Lazard
(Urbandale, Iowa): Though he's an Iowa State commit and legacy, there's a good chance he ends up with Notre Dame. Lazard will take an official visit to Notre Dame for either the Oklahoma or USC game, and he's also considering officials to Oregon and Stanford. Lazard said he'll know after his Notre Dame visit if he's going to make the switch.
-- 4-star Josh Malone
(Gallatin, Tennessee): The Irish are still in this race until Malone decides to make his first cut. The only official visit he knows of so far is to Georgia, and he's also considering Clemson, Florida, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA and Vanderbilt along with the Irish. Plans to narrow his list in the beginning of the season and is on track to graduate in December.
-- 3-star Isaiah McKenzie
(Plantation, Florida): Notre Dame is the leader for McKenzie, though it's looking like a decision one way or the other will not come until once the season is underway. He's also considering Kentucky, Missouri and West Virginia.
-- 4-star Cameron Sims
(Monroe, Louisiana): Visited Notre Dame along with a slew of other schools this summer. Hasn't let on where he'll be taking official visits, but he's also high on Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss and USC. Sims should be releasing his favorites in the near future.
-- 5-star Michiah Quick
(Fresno, California): His top schools are Alabama, California Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC and Washington. Oklahoma and USC seem to be biggest competition right now, and he plans on taking all of his officials and announcing on National Signing Day (if he doesn't decide to graduate early). Quick hasn't let on publicly if he's favoring a particular school out of his handful of favorites, but the feeling is the Irish are at least among his top three.
