Commit Diary: Mustipher's Musings

In the 3rd installment of 2014 Notre Dame commit Sam Mustipher's journal, the four-star offensive guard previews his senior season.

August 12 --

Today was day 10 of our camp. We have film after the first practice of our two-a-day. We had a scrimmage Saturday against Eastern Christian Academy, who has the quarterback who committed to USC in 7th grade. All in all, it was a great scrimmage but our record is still 0-0, and we are focused on improving on the mistakes we made. Our first practice is completely defense and it will be high intensity as we had Sunday off. Everybody is a little sore and tired but this is the difference between getting to the championship and winning the championship: pushing through pain and fatigue to have a solid practice.

Our first practice goes well and film is next. The eye in the sky doesn't lie! We see mistakes we made and in our second practice, and our offense smooths over any wrinkles we saw during film. I end my day with a routine ice bath and drive an hour back to my home. My birthday is tomorrow so my family wanted me home. I receive news of the loss that part of our family has suffered and send my condolences out to coach Alford via Twitter. His speech he gave at my first time in South Bend was one of the main reasons I fell in love with Notre Dame. Make sure you all show him love and support. He is not only a great coach but a great man. As the nightly routine goes, I come home, shower, eat then watch T.V. until I pass out. I'm looking forward to our jersey pick ups tomorrow and our head shots for our football program. The season is right around the corner! I hope you all are as excited as I am! God bless and Go Irish!
