Sheffield staying open
2015 Scout 100 cornerback Kendall Sheffield of Missouri City (Texas) Marshall is known primarily for his blistering speed and elite 40 time (4.36), and that's a big reason why the rising junior already claims 11 offers from some of the most premier football programs around the country. "I have 11 offers right now," Sheffield said. "I don't have a favorite, though. I'm keeping everything open and seeing where it leads me." Sheffield visited Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor this summer, and he'll have a chance to take in a Notre Dame game this season when the Irish travel to Dallas. "I'm not sure of any fall visits except going to Dallas to see Notre Dame play," Sheffield said. "I want to visit Notre Dame's campus, but that probably won't happen until next summer." "Notre Dame has great tradition and education," Sheffield said. "They are a great school overall. [Cornerbacks] Coach (Kerry) Cooks is a great man and a good coach. I would like learning from him." Sheffield says he could be closing in on offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia and Florida State. As far as a final decision goes, Sheffield says location won't play a factor. "I will leave Texas if that's where I want to go to school," Sheffield said. "Mainly, I'm looking at education, position coaches and a place that can get me to the next level." Sheffield is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No.4 cornerback in the class of 2015 by Scout.com.
