McKenzie sets new decision date

Athlete Isaiah McKenzie of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage has set a decision date, and knows which schools he'll be choosing from.

Athlete Isaiah McKenzie of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage put on a show Friday night on national television when his team took on Cypress. He scored on an 60-yard catch and run that was worthy of its own highlight reel, and he had two punt return for touchdowns, though penalties on the offense took those scores off the board.

After receiving an offer from Notre Dame in mid-June, McKenzie has maintained the Irish as his front-runner. McKenzie visited Notre Dame in the summer, and he has set a return visit to South Bend the weekend of Oct. 19. Now, it appears McKenzie is ready to announce his decision before he sets foot in Notre Dame for a second time.

"I'm deciding on Oct. 6," McKenzie said. "There's no reason why that's the specific date, I'll just know my choice by then."

Followed by Notre Dame, McKenzie's top five consists of Cincinnati, Kentucky, Rutgers, and West Virginia. He still plans on visiting those schools, even though nothing is planned yet.

"I'm not deciding now because I still want to take visits in my top five," McKenzie said. "Nothing is scheduled yet except for Notre Dame when they play USC."

McKenzie expects his decision to come down between Notre Dame and West Virginia.

"I'll decide between Notre Dame and West Virginia," McKenzie said. "I spoke with Coach Alford yesterday, and he was telling me how well I played on Friday night. I told him that I was deciding on Oct. 6, and he said he hopes that I choose Notre Dame."

McKenzie is a two-star prospect and is being recruited by Notre Dame to play wide receiver. Top Stories
