Causey picks up Notre Dame offer

Cornerback Rashard Causey of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School explains where the Irish is on his list of favorites after picking up a Notre Dame offer.

When Notre Dame offered 2015 cornerback Rashard Causey of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School, the Irish immediately made a jump into his list of favorites.

"I like Florida State (no offer), Florida (no offer), Miami and USC (no offer)," Causey said. "Notre Dame is right there, too. They make up my top five."

Causey helps make up one of Florida's most talented defenses, led by Notre Dame commit Richard Yeargin and Florida commit Quincy Wilson.

"I was very excited when I heard from Coach Tony Alford," Causey said. "I was a little shocked. I have always wanted a Notre Dame offer and was looking at that school already because of its academics. It's a dream come true."

Yeargin, who is cousins with Causey, has been in the ear of the 6-foot, 193-pound corner about Notre Dame.

"Richard told me after I was offered that I should really consider Notre Dame because of the academics and how their tradition is everything."

Causey will visit Florida State on Nov. 2 and Florida on Nov. 30. He also plans to be at multiple Canes games this season, and he grew up a Miami fan.

"The main factors will be academics, playing time and overall atmosphere," Causey said. "I think I do a lot of good things on the field. I can hold off big wide receivers down the sideline with my size and cover speed."

Causey said he is also hearing frequently from North Carolina State, Wake Forest and Nebraska, and he believes those teams could be close to offering.

In last week's 37-7 team win over over Cypress Bay, Causey had eight tackles and a fumble recovery. Top Stories
