McKenzie announces commitment to Notre Dame

Wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage talks about his announcement of his recruitment to Notre Dame.

During American Heritage's senior night on Friday, Oct. 18, wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie announced his commitment to Notre Dame. He chose the Irish over Rutgers and West Virginia.

"It feels great," McKenzie said. "I love everything about Notre Dame, especially the atmosphere. I'm exited to visit Nov. 2."

Originally scheduled to visit the Irish this weekend for the USC game, McKenzie was forced to reschedule because his standardized test scores had not yet been released. It is an NCAA rule that recruits provide their test scores to schools before they take an official visit.

"I talked to Coach Tony Alford last week," McKenzie said. "I will probably talk to him tonight or tomorrow and let him know (about the commitment)."

"I like everything about Notre Dame," McKenzie said. "I've known for a month that I wanted to commit to Notre Dame. I've just had to wait for test scores. They're not in yet, but I'm expecting good results."

American Heritage won 48-7 against Key West tonight, and McKenzie ran for three touchdowns, though two were called back. His one touchdown that counted was a punt return for 60+ yards.

McKenzie had a visit planned to Rutgers for December, but he will not longer take it.
