Notre Dame's top prospects on offense are broken down. Plus, who could be next to pledge Irish?
Exactly 100 days from National Signing Day, the Irish have most of their offensive pieces in place for the 2014 recruiting cycle. But, the targets on O the Irish have a great shot of landing are nothing short of elite. With Notre Dame
's biggest recruiting weekend behind it, here's a look at where Notre Dame stands with its major targets stand as November approaches:
Top TE Targets
-- 4-star Tyler Luatua
(La Mirada, California): Luatua has set three official visits: Notre Dame the weekend of Oct. 19, Alabama on Nov. 9 and Wisconsin on Nov. 30. FOX Sports NEXT expects Luatua to commit to Notre Dame after his courtesy visit to the Tide.
-- 4-star Dalton Schutlz
(South Jordan, Utah): Has a top five of Notre Dame, Oregon State, Stanford, Utah and Washington. He has visited every school in his top five except for Notre Dame, though he will give the Irish an official visit. Stanford has long been the team to beat for Schultz, and the Irish need to make up some ground during his visit if they want to land him. Has not set a date for his official visit yet, but don't expect it to be during the season.
Top OL Targets
-- 5-star OT/OG Damien Mama
(Bellflower, California): Mama is still mainly considering Alabama, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, UCLA and USC. He's taken officials to Wisconsin and Notre Dame, and he will head to Alabama on Nov. 9. In brief conversation with Mama after his Notre Dame visit, the Irish will give Mama something to think about, and he and Luatua are very close friends. I still think hometown USC will be tough to beat, especially if Ed Orgeron is retained somewhere on the staff. Grades are still a question here.
Top WR Targets
-- 4-star Erik Brown
(Fontana, California): A Washington commit, Brown still loved his official visit to Notre Dame. He's not wishing to make a final decision any time soon, so spots could be filled in Notre Dame's class by the time he makes up his mind.
-- 4-star Allen Lazard
(Urbandale, Iowa): An Iowa State commit and legacy, Lazard will taken his official to Iowa State in December and then make a final decision between Iowa State and Notre Dame. He has maintained that he's solid to the Cyclones, but he also knows he's wanted in South Bend by the Irish staff. A couple months ago I would have been surprised if he didn't switch his pledge, but it's a little more difficult to make that assumption at this point.
-- 5-star Michiah Quick
(Fresno, California): His top schools are Alabama, California, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC and Washington. Quick plans on taking all of his officials and announcing on National Signing Day. He hasn't let on publicly if he's favoring a particular school out of his top, but Oklahoma, Notre Dame and UCLA are his likely top three. Notre Dame has shown Quick everything it can offer, and he really enjoyed his official visit. He has two former teammates at OU, a school that recruits Fresno hard. Mike Stoops was also the first to offer Quick early in the recruiting process. I see this coming down to Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
Top RB Targets
-- 4-star Bo Scarbrough
(Bradenton, Florida) - Thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Notre Dame and has a good relationship with Tony Alford, so the Irish have a good of shot as anyone should he decide to part ways with the Tide. Would not be surprised to see this one come down to signing day with Notre Dame largely in the mix.
-- 4-star Nathan Starks
(Las Vegas, Nevada) - Starks still maintains some contact with the Irish staff, but the chances that he ends up at Notre Dame are slim.
Where Will the Irish Add?
