More than a handful of Notre Dame commits suffered losses last week at the hands of some national powerhouses in the high school state playoffs.

OT Alex Bars

Montgomery Bell Academy (10-2) barely failed to reach the state championship, falling to Memphis University School 23-17 in the state semifinals.

LB Jonathan Bonner

Parkway Central (13-1) avenged an earlier season loss to Webster Groves, winning 42-21 in the semifinals. Parkway Central will take on Lee's Summit West in the Missouri 5-A State Championship.

LB Jimmy Byrne

St. Ignatius (8-5) suffered a 26-3 loss in the regional finals to Mentor.

DE Matt Dickerson

Serra (9-2) won its last regular season game 59-7 against Pioneer. They'll take Bellarmine next week in the playoffs. Dickerson is still out with a back injury.

QB DeShone Kizer

Central Catholic (12-1) lost its first game of the year to Clyde by one point, 42-41 in the playoffs. Kizer threw for over 200 yards and ran for over 100 more in the loss.

CB Nick Watkins

Bishop Dunne (7-5) was shut out by Trinity Christian 31-0 in the second round of the playoffs.

TE Nic Weishar

Marist (9-4) dropped 21-7 to Naperville Central in the state semifinals.

LB Richard Yeargin

University School (9-3) lost badly 45-17 to Booker T. Washington in the second round of the playoffs.

WR Corey Holmes

St. Thomas Aquinas (10-2) won its second round playoff game against Plantation 20-6. Holmes caught a 9-yard touchdown pass. They'll take on Dwyer in the regional finals.

OT Quenton Nelson

Red Bank Catholic (9-1) fell out of playoff play with its first loss of the season, a 28-7 loss at the hands of St. Joseph's.

K/P Tyler Newsome

Carrollton (12-1) beat Monroe Allen 44-27 in the second round of the playoffs. Carrollton will take on Stockbridge next week.

2015 OT Jerry Tillery

Evangel Christian (10-1) beat St. Thomas More 32-29 in the state quarterfinals, after losing to St. Thomas More in the regular season. They'll take on 8-2 Curtis this week in the semifinals.

2015 QB Blake Barnett

Notre Dame's newest commit fell to Upland 30-29 in the second round of the playoffs. Barnett then hopped on the red-eye flight with his parents to South Bend.
