Morning Suspensions

Juniors George Atkinson and Jalen Brown have been suspended for today's Pinstripe Bowl contest for violation of team rules.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly released a statement Saturday morning that a pair of juniors, running back George Atkinson and cornerback Jalen Brown, have been suspended for today's contest vs. Rutgers for a violation of team rules.

Atkinson finished the regular season second in rushing yards (555), attempts (93) and rushing touchdowns (3). He led a crowded backfield with 6.0 yards per carry. The school's all-time leader in career kickoff return yardage, Atkinson started four games at running back this season though none since October 26 at Air Force.

Brown appeared in two games, at Michigan and at Air Force. He did not record a tackle after posting three stops in seven games last season.

Atkinson tweeted to his followers, "For those of you who are wondering I was suspended from today's game for texting friends and family during team meal, as i did all season."

The tweet has since been deleted.
