Alex Bars (Offensive Tackle, 6'6", 309)Location: Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell
Rank: No. 14 offensive tackle, Four-star
Quick Hit:A Notre Dame legacy, Alex Bars also has connections at Penn State and Michigan, where his two older brothers signed to play football. His father, Joe Bars, played linebacker at Notre Dame.
Bars' recruitment really began to heat up in the spring of his junior year, and he took visits to Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Ohio State. Bars knew he wanted to commit before the start of his senior year, and he had plans to pull the trigger that summer prior. However, Bars knew Notre Dame was the school for him and he committed to the Irish in May. Michigan was the biggest threat for Bars down the stretch of his self-imposed commitment timeline. Even though he was a legacy, Notre Dame's combination of football and academics is what sealed the deal for Bars.Bars became Notre Dame's fourth and final offensive line commit, joining an impressive class that already included Jimmy Byrne, Sam Mustipher and Quenton Nelson. Bars took his official visit to Notre Dame for the Irish's win over USC in October. He participated in the 2014 Under Armour All-America Game, and he was recruited to the Irish by Harry Hiestand. Bars started the rankings outside the top 25 and finished inside the top 15.
