Nyles Morgan (Middle linebacker)Location: Crete (Ill.) Crete-Monee
Rank: No. 3 ranked middle linebacker, Five-star
Quick Hit:Entering the summer of 2013, Nyles Morgan already had over 30 offers. The schools he told Scout.com that were recruiting him the hardest at that point were Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon and Vanderbilt. Those offers followed a junior season where Morgan had 140 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions as his team won the state title.
Morgan visited Notre Dame in the spring, and the Irish were thought to be in good position to land him. However, as summer continued and the fall season approached, Morgan looked to go in a different direction, naming a top six of Florida, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt in September.Notre Dame jumped back in the game for Morgan when he decided to take an official visit to South Bend for the USC game in late October. After that, Morgan would take two more back-to-back visits to see Notre Dame. He would announce his decision to attend Notre Dame and the Army Bowl in January, over finalists Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. This ranks as one of Notre Dame's most impressive landings, not just as a player, but as a feat of reeling him in. Thought to be SEC bound for much of his senior season, the Irish were still able to maintain momentum after his area coordinator (Chuck Martin) and position coach (Bob Diaco) left Notre Dame.
