In the 19th of its series, Notre Dame wide receiver commit Corey Holmes of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas is broken down with a recruitment recap and player analysis. Holmes chose Notre Dame after his fourth visit to South Bend in July, and he picked the Irish over finalists Florida, Oklahoma, and UCLA.
Corey Holmes (6'2", 176, Wide Receiver)
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas
Rank: No. 38 wide receiver, Four-star
After taking a total of four visits to South Bend before making his decision, Holmes chose Notre Dame
over a top four of Florida, Oklahoma and UCLA.
Holmes was high on the Irish throughout the entire process, and that was evident in interviews when he explained that each return visit to Notre Dame improved upon the last.
Michigan, Oklahoma and UCLA looked like viable options for Holmes throughout, but Notre Dame always had the edge. Holmes' family being high on Notre Dame coupled with the Irish's business school made the decision an easy one for Holmes.
Holmes will be a perfect fit in Notre Dame's offense in terms of playing style. Long in stride and sound technique-wise, Holmes could push for early playing time… if he were 10 pounds heavier.
Holmes put on an impressive showing during Under Armour All-America practice in January, though he'll have to fill out his frame before receiving quality snaps at Notre Dame.
"It was a great experience. It was great being back there as a committed guy. It did feel a little different this time than on my recruiting visits. It's home, now." – Holmes, post Irish official visit
