Notre Dame has offered 13 cornerbacks thus far in the 2015 class. Inside is a recruiting breakdown of how many corners you can expect the Irish to take in 2015 and where Notre Dame stands with the top targets on its board.
2015: Four have been inked over the last two cycles but help is still necessary. The 2014 roster includes seven:
Two seniors yet to make an impact in Josh Atkinson (2014 eligibility) and *Jalen Brown (2015)
A true junior, Keivarae Russell (2015)
Three sophomores, Cole Luke (2016), Devin Butler (2016), and redshirt-freshman Rashad Kinlaw (2017).
True freshman Nick Watkins
Two would be ideal for 2015,
followed by two more in 2016 as well.
(Players with stars before their names are prospects that could very plausibly end up Irish at this point in recruitment)
Rashard Causey (6'0", 193):
From Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Causey recently named a top three of Miami, South Carolina and UCLA.
Tyrek Cole (5'10", 165)
From Miramar, Fla., Cole is a Florida State commit.
***Minkah Fitzpatrick (6'0", 180)
From Jersey City, N.J., Fitzpatrick will likely visit Notre Dame this spring. He hasn't publicly named leaders, but Alabama, Notre Dame and South Carolina are on his short list.
Terry Godwin (6'0", 165)
From Hogansville, Ga., Godwin is a Georgia commit.
Holton Hill (6'2", 175)
From Houston, Texas, Hill has picked up recent offers from Alabama, Florida State and Texas. He plans to narrow list this summer.
Dechaun Holiday (6'2, 190)
From San Marcos, Calif., Holiday visited UCLA and USC this spring, and he's currently favoring those two in-state programs.
Marcus Lewis (6'2", 180)
From Washington D.C., Lewis has not expressed much interest in Notre Dame. However, he plans to visit the Midwest in April to see Michigan and Indiana, so it's possible he could visit Notre Dame as well.
Xavier Lewis (6'0", 180)
From Reserve, La., Lewis was offered by Notre Dame as an athlete, but Scout.com projects him as cornerback, and according to Lewis, every program but Notre Dame likes him specifically for cornerback right now. The former LSU commit is high on Florida, Texas and Texas A&M right now.
***Iman Marshall (6'1.5", 190)
From Long Beach, Calif., Marshall is playing his cards close the chest, though UCLA and USC are on his short list. Academics are a priority, so Notre Dame and Stanford will get strong looks. Marshall will likely visit Notre Dame before making a decision, which is not likely to come soon.
P.J. Mbanasor (6'2", 182)
From Pflugerville, Texas, Mbanasor is a TCU commit.
***John Reid (5'11", 180)
From Philadelphia, Penn., Reid is visiting Notre Dame the weekend of March 28. He's high on the Irish, as well as Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State.
Kendall Sheffield (6'0", 180)
From Missouri City, Texas, Sheffield is high on Texas and Texas A&M at this point.
Jordan Whitehead (5'10", 170)
From Monaca, Pa., Whitehead is picking up steam on the recruiting trail. He admitted to now knowing a lot about the Irish when he was offered in late February, but Hiestand is recruiting Pennsylvania rather hard this cycle thus far, and it would not be surprising if he sets up a visit with the Irish.
