2015 prospects: offensive line

Notre Dame has offered nine offensive linemen thus far in the 2015 class. Inside is a recruiting breakdown of how many offensive linemen you can expect the Irish to take in 2015 and where Notre Dame stands with the top targets on its board.

Offensive line

Numbers (O'Malley): Notre Dame's 2014 roster includes 15 scholarship offensive linemen. Just one, 5th-year senior Christian Lombard, exhausts eligibility at season's end. Expect each of the team's 2014 senior blockers, Nick Martin, Matt Hegarty, and Conor Hanratty to return for 2015, which means 14 linemen will be part of the '15 roster. The Irish would then "need" three and could survive with two, but two is a recipe for disaster at a position with a history of attrition in the college game. Notre Dame's last four recruiting classes include the following numbers up front: 2011 (three remaining from five total); 2012 (two total); 2013 (five total), 2014 (four total), 2015 ?

Prospects (Hickey): Players with stars before their names are prospects that could very plausibly end up Irish as it stands with their recruitment at this point).

Notre Dame has already gained commitments from two offensive linemen - Guard Tristen Hoge (6'5",287) of Pocatello, Idaho and tackle Jerry Tillery (6'6", 315) of Shreveport, La.

***Matthew Burrell (6'6", 285) From Woodbridge, Va., Burrell (tackle) plans to visit Notre Dame at some point this spring, though no official date has been set. Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Ohio State.

Chuma Edoga (6'4", 265) From Powder Springs, Ga., Edoga (tackle) has named a top group of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Maryland, Tennessee (leader) and Ohio State.

Jake Fruhmorgen (6'5", 265) From Tampa, Fla., Fruhmorgen picked up a Notre Dame offer last October. Fruhmorgen camped with Notre Dame last summer, and admitted he was surprised an offer didn't come at that point in time. Alabama, Clemson and Florida appear to be the early favorites, but expect Fruhmorgen to visit Notre Dame again this summer or fall.

Kendrick Norton (6'3", 305) From Jacksonville, Fla., Norton is a Florida State commit.

Zach Okun (6'4", 303) From Newbury Pack, Calif., Okun (guard) is an Oregon commit.

***Zach Robertson (6'4", 315) From Bellflower, Calif., Robertson (guard) named a top three of Notre Dame, UCLA and USC.

***Reno Rosene (6'7", 320) From Westlake Village, Calif., Rosene (tackle) visited Notre Dame two seasons ago with his family and has since been very high on the Irish. USC is a threat to the Irish should the Trojans offer. Expect Rosene to take an official visit to Notre Dame this fall.
