Offer on the horizon?
Running back Robert Washington said he mainly made trip No. 3 to Notre Dame this spring to spend time with Irish running backs coach Tony Alford. "The main reason I went was to chill with Alford," Washington said. "I like learning from him. He would be position coach, so I want to know him well. We watched a lot of film, and he showed me a couple Notre Dame plays. He taught me power and the blocking schemes." Washington said another highlight of the trip was spending time with Notre Dame's talented duo of sophomore running backs, Tarean Folston and Greg Bryant. "I was chilling in Bryant's room and Folston came over to hang too," Washington said. "I was there until like 11:30 p.m. that night and we were playing Madden and NBA 2K. They were great guys, really laid-baid and cool about everything." "Greg told me how it was at Notre Dame, how it was going to be hard, and how Coach Alford was always riding him, but that it was going to be worth it in the end," Washington said. The 5-foot-10, 208-pound back has over 15 offers. "I'm a distinctive running back," Washington said. "I'm quick and can be versatile with how I run the ball. My high school runs the power, so I think I would be a good fit in Notre Dame's system." Washington said a discussion of an Irish offer did come up during his time with Alford. "He said that it's coming," Washington said. "He said I'm just young right now, and they want to see how I perform this season before offering." Washington has no future visits planned, though he says it's possible he takes trips to Ohio State and West Virginia this spring.
