McCloud plans to visit

Running back Ray-Ray McCloud of Tampa (Fla.) Sickles has decided to pump the breaks on his recruitment, and at this point, he plans on taking official visits in the fall. Before he finalizes those visit destinations, McCloud will visit Notre Dame this summer.

Running back Ray McCloud of Tampa (Fla.) Sickles told in mid-Febrary that Notre Dame was one of the schools on his offer list that was "really getting into the mix."

Other schools he included in that group were Clemson, Florida, Ole Miss and UCLA.

Recently, Notre Dame running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Tony Alford stopped by McCloud's high school, and McCloud scheduled a summer a visit to Notre Dame with his parents.

"I think I'm visiting this summer," McCloud said. "We have a date set, I'm just not sure of it at this moment. It's sometime mid-summer."

McCloud listed a variety of factors when asked what was the main appeal for him about Notre Dame.

"They have the tradition, a great coaching staff, success on the football field, and the education is off the charts," McCloud said. "I can also tell they really want me there."

McCloud said he doesn't yet have a set list of favorites, but he plans to announce his standouts at the beginning of the season. He plans to take official visits and graduate in December.

This summer McCloud also plans to visit UCLA, Florida and Ohio State.

McCloud is a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 45 running back in the class of 2015. He scored a total of 28 touchdowns during his junior campaign and racked up over 2,400 all-purpose yards. Top Stories
