Heat turned up on Conner's recruitment

Linebacker Nick Conner talks about his summer plans and explains which schools he soon hops on his offer list.

Linebacker Nick Conner of Dublin (Ohio) Dublin Scioto has a busy summer ahead of him, and he's in the process of nailing down certain dates for visits.

"I know I'm going to Michigan State on June 1," Conner said. "Then I'm also looking at Ohio State, Notre Dame, Duke, some schools out west like USC, Oregon and Stanford."

The most recent schools to offer Conner include Virginia Tech, Minnesota, Oregon, Vanderbilt and Duke.

Southern Cal has been the most recent school to visit Conner's school.

"They were really impressed," Conner said. "I thought they were going to offer, but their coaches still have to talk it over."

Another program that has yet to offer but is showing a considerable amount of interest is Notre Dame.

"Everything's still great with them (Notre Dame)," Conner said. "I keep in touch Coach (Mike) Elston and I'm really trying to make it to camp in June. They want to see me workout in person and see what type of guy I am before anything like an offer happens."

For Conner, the summer camp circuit can go a long ways in determining his future. And, despite a steady influx of recent offers, he's not about to take a backseat to competition.

"I'm excited to compete," Conner said. "You know, I don't think anything can hurt me unless I get hurt. I know what I'm capable of."

Though Conner doesn't have favorites, he does maintain frequent contact with a few schools, including programs for which he awaits an offer.

"Stanford, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Duke are the main ones right now," Conner said. "I would like to make my decision before my senior year, but if recruiting continues like it is, I may have to push it back."
