Big Board: Middle linebacker

A breakdown of where Notre Dame stands with its top prospects at middle linebacker in 2015, including how many the Irish would like to take in this class and which top three middle 'backer is visiting campus this summer.

It's clear that Notre Dame would be content with only adding one true middle linebacker in this class by the sheer lack of offers out at the position. If Notre Dame is aiming to take three linebackers, I see the staff taking a true middle linebacker, a true outside man, and one that plays outside, but could fill in at middle if needed. Bilal and Osa Masina fit the bill as inside or outside linebackers. Porter Gustin could fit that role as well.

In order of prospects' ranking:

1. Jahvoni Simmons (Virginia Beach, Va., Ocean Lakes) - Though Simmons has yet to pick up an offer, it's likely he'll add one in June when he visits (22nd-25th). Simmons plans to cut his list of over 20 offers to 10 around the time he visits Notre Dame. Alabama, Clemson, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech are also in the mix.

2. Arthur McGinnis (New Orleans, La., Warren Easton) - McGinnis recently told Irisheyes that he's "working on" setting up a trip to Notre Dame for Irish Invasion. McGinnis is in no rush to make a decision, and Notre Dame has the potential to leave an impression should McGinnis decide to visit. He attended junior days at LSU and Texas A&M.

3. Te'Von Coney (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., High) - Coney is visiting Notre Dame for the first time in June for Irish Invasion. Coney, who has received a majority of his big-time offers in the past three months, is not currently naming standouts. However, Coney has called Florida his "dream school." He visited Florida and Miami this spring.

4. Nick Conner (Dublin, Ohio, Dublin Scioto) - Conner could pick up an offer at Irish Invasion this summer. He's still in the process of nailing down summer plans. Stanford is also high on his list should the Cardinal offer.

Other notable offers: Leo Lewis (Alabama commit), Cecil Cherry (Tennessee commit), De'Amontae Jackson
