"I grew up liking Notre Dame," Dew-Treadway said. "Notre Dame academics - can't beat it. Notre Dame football - can't beat it. And, they have great coaches."So, does Notre Dame lead for the Illinois native? "I wouldn't say they're my leader, but they're in my top three," Dew-Treadway said. "I don't know who the other two schools are right now." The 6-foot-4, 273-pound lineman is being recruited by Notre Dame as a versatile piece to the defensive line, but he sees himself ending up as a three-technique. "They are recruiting me for end or tackle, but they said when they get me to the weight they want me up to, I will play tackle," Dew-Treadway said. Dew-Treadway said there was an element of surprise to hearing about the Irish offer. "I wasn't surprised because I work really hard, and I believe in myself," Dew-Treadway said. "But, at the same time, I didn't know that Notre Dame was interested in me at the time because I hadn't really spoken to them before." Dew-Treadway will visit Notre Dame on June 11. Currently he's on an east coast swing, visiting Syracuse, Connecticut, Virginia and Maryland. This spring, Dew-Treadway visited Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Notre Dame is likely to be Dew-Treadway's last visit before he makes a decision. "I plan on deciding by the end of this month," Dew-Treadway said. "Playing time and academics will the two biggest factors." Dew-Treadway is a three-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 34 defensive end in the class of 2015.
Irish at the top
Last week Notre Dame extended an offer to three-star defensive lineman Micah Dew-Treadway of Boliingbrook (Ill.) High. And, it didn't take long for Dew-Treadway to name the Irish as one of his leaders.
