Houston poised to see the Irish
Five-star linebacker John Houston of Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra visited nearby schools UCLA and USC this past spring. This summer, the only trip on his radar is a visit to Notre Dame. "Notre Dame has the mix of education and football that you don't find everywhere," Houston said. "The coaching staff wanted me to come out and see it because they said you really don't understand what it's like until you are on campus." Houston doesn't have any favorite at the moment, but he plans on coming out with a list this summer. "Around the time of The Opening, I will come out with a top 13 or 14," Houston said. "I commit until Signing Day." The 6-foot-3, 218-pound linebacker will consider a variety of factors as he goes deeper into his recruitment. "Academics, athletics, the coaching staff, and really, just everything about the school and if it feels right," Houston said. On his visit to Notre Dame, Houston will be joined by teammate, five-star defensive lineman Rasheem Green, who recently named Notre Dame as one of the schools recruiting him the hardest. Houston already knows where two of his official visits will be. "I know I'm taking officials to Oregon and Florida State," Houston said. Houston is a five-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 3 outside linebacker in the class of 2015.
