"Also, academics are top-notch. It doesn't get much better than a degree from Notre Dame."What's next for White? "I definitely plan on committing somewhere before my senior year," White said. "I will talk with my parents and go from there." White is a three-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 48 cornerback in the class of 2015.
White names Irish leader
If there were any questions about whether if Notre Dame would actively pursue a 3rd cornerback to add to the 2015 class, there are none now. A week after hosting three-star cornerback Ashton White of Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate at camp, Notre Dame extended an offer. "I was just very excited when I found out today (Friday)," White said. "When I went out there for camp, it was my goal to show them my ability and what I was like as a person in order to get that offer." "When I was leaving campus, the staff told me they were going to continue to review my transcripts and would let me know soon about my future with Notre Dame," White said. "I was confident in how I performed at camp and I was confident in my grades, so I was hoping this would happen." White called Irish assistant Scott Booker to find out about his offer. "He told me that Notre Dame is looking to add one more cornerback in this class," White said. "They want to take three total." The 5-foot-11, 176-pound defensive back named Notre Dame to his top five before he visited campus. Boston College, Maryland, Ohio State and Virginia also made up that group. "Notre Dame is my leader now," White said. "I love it. They're at the top of the list. They have a great campus. Their coaches are very straightforward and they all know football. Coach (Brian) VanGorder has coached in the NFL and you can tell they all care about you as a person not just a player."
