Double Digits For Irish?

Notre Dame's Over/Under for total regular season wins has been set at 9.5 by Vegas Sports Book,

At least one Las Vegas sports book has Notre Dame as one of 12 FBS teams with a win total set at 9.5 (forcing bettors to choose either more than nine victories, or nine or fewer).

Just five teams, Alabama, Boise State, Florida State, Ohio State, and Oregon received a total of 10.5 wins, tied for the highest number, nationally.

Joining the Irish on the 9.5 win line are SEC squads Auburn, Georgia, Missouri, and South Carolina, Pac-12 teams Stanford and UCLA, defending Big 10 champion Michigan State and conference heavyweight Wisconsin, recent Big 12 power Baylor, and ACC hopeful Clemson.

Mountain West competitor, Utah State also owns a 9.5 win total. The Aggies, like their Mountain West count parts Boise State listed above, have a projected lofty win total that is likely more the result of their comparatively weak conference schedules.

Set win totals for remaining Irish foes include:

-- USC (8.5)

-- Arizona State (8.5)

-- Michigan (7.5)

-- Louisville (7.5)

-- North Carolina (7.5)

-- Northwestern (6.5)

-- Syracuse (5.5)

-- Purdue (3.5)

(Notre Dame's season-opening foe Rice did not have a listed total, nor did the Naval Academy.)

Not all win totals are set equally. That is, a Vegas sports bettor has to wager varying amounts to win $100.

Of the 12 teams listed on the 9.5 win line, Notre Dame ranks tied for "last" along with Missouri. Auburn and Michigan State are tied for first as illustrated below:

-- Auburn (-155)

-- Michigan State (-155)

-- Clemson (-150)

-- UCLA (-150)

-- South Carolina (-140)

-- Wisconsin (-135)

-- Baylor (-130)

-- Stanford (-120)

-- Georgia (-120)

-- UCLA (+100/Even)

-- Notre Dame (+120)

-- Missouri (+120)

Totals are regular season only. Conference Championship games and bowl games do not apply. Top Stories
