What does the recruiting timetable for four-star linebacker Asmar Bilal look like? And, does Michigan or Notre Dame have the edge?

As August approaches, four-star linebacker Asmar Bilal of Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis has narrowed his focus upon two schools, Notre Dame and Michigan.

"Those are the main two," Bilal said. "I talk to them often. It's Coach (Mike) Elston at Notre Dame and Coach (Greg) Mattison and Coach (Curt) Mallory at Michigan."

"Nothing new with them (the coaches)," Bilal said. "They really haven't talked about official visits, they're just trying to get me to come visit as frequently as I can."

Bilal visited both campuses in June, and he compared his thoughts on the two traditional powerhouse programs here.

Is a commitment on tap before his senior year kicks off on August 22?

"I don't really know," Bilal said. "I might. If I do commit before the season, I won't need another visit. It will be a gut decision because I'm really not leaning (in one direction). If I don't commit, I really doubt I'll take official visits to anywhere but Notre Dame and Michigan."

For Bilal, committing will slacken the hectic lifestyle that being a high profile recruit entails.

"Basically just getting the burden off my back is why I would (commit before the season)," Bilal said. "The phone calls, everything. It will be nice to just know and have a decision made. But, I'm just really not sure when I will. I don't feel like there's a rush."

Bilal is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 9 outside linebacker in the class of 2015. Top Stories
