Top 2016 QB Opens Back Up

Arizona hung on as long as it could. Shea Patterson committed to Arizona over a year ago, but the the five-star junior quarterback opened his recruitment back up Monday...

It appeared to be only a matter of time.

Schools have been offering 2016 quarterback Shea Patterson at a rapid pace over the past few months. He has spent time on numerous campuses, his camped at quite a few prestigious universities the last two months, and he still was open to seeing what other schools had to say.

On Monday, he reached the point where he had to call Arizona head coach, Rich Rodriguez to inform him he was opening his recruitment back up.

The No. 1 quarterback in 2016 on Scout is fresh off camping at LSU, the in-state school, and the school that just hired his brother, Sean Patterson from Arizona.

It came down to Shea "wanting to do the right thing" Scout was told on Monday afternoon. He wants to allow himself to be recruited, but he was having a hard time with that being committed to Arizona.

The 6-foot-2, 190 pound signal caller out of Shreveport (La.) Calvary felt he owed it to himself, to decommit, start the recruiting process over, and feel good about talking with other coaches from any school he chooses.

The call was made by Patterson this afternoon and Coach Rodriguez has been a class act from the start Scout is told with someone connected to Patterson. Do not expect the Wildcats to bow out of his recruitment. Arizona and so many others will ramp it up and continue to pursue the five-star talent.

He camped at Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, and Texas this summer.

Patterson has a long list of offers and the one from LSU was made not too long ago. Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Virginia Tech among others have offered.
