Update: Academic Misconduct Reported

News conference to be held tonight at the University's Morris Inn.

Fox Sports Bruce Feldman reported today that four Notre Dame players, three of them starters, have been dismissed from school. Additionally, Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde reports that an investigation into academic fraud has been launched at the University of Notre Dame, and that the probe involves both football players and non-student-athletes.

Two sources told Irisheyes.com that former football players, former athletes from other sports at the university, and former students from the university are involved in the ongoing investigation as well.

Multiple sources indicate the alleged players suspended from head coach Brian Kelly's 2014 squad include junior cornerback Keivarae Russell, senior wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, senior defensive end Ishaq Williams, and senior linebacker Kendall Moore.

Notre Dame has not confirmed the reports.

Daniels was suspended from the football team and university for academic issues in the spring 2014 semester. Russell spoke with reporters following Notre Dame's initial practice of fall camp on August 4 and Williams was at Notre Dame's August 14 practice as shown by UND.com video highlights.

Blue and Gold Illustrated reported today that none of the four players in question attended today's practice, August 15.

At an impromptu press conference Wednesday afternoon, Kelly named both Williams and Russell as starters heading into the season.
