Kirkland gives Notre Dame visit high remarks
Q: What were your overall impressions of your first trip to Notre Dame? Kirkland: "It was a great visit, just an awesome experience. I was sitting in the recruit section with Nick Coleman and Brandon Tiassum. The fans were awesome, and it was a great environment to be a part of. It was my first time in South Bend seeing everything, and it was awesome." Q: Did you get a chance to dial in on the play of Notre Dame's defense? Kirkland: "Notre Dame's linebackers played a great game. Joe Schmidt, No. 38 did a heck of a job as the middle linebacker. Jaylon Smith played a great game too, and so did the defensive line. Sheldon Day did awesome, and it's especially great to see him play like that because he's from Indy." Q: What was the highlight of your visit? Kirkland: "My favorite part was the walk-through before the game. I had never experienced anything like that, and it was awesome. I'm glad that was something I could be a part of." Q: Where do you stand with regards to receiving a Notre Dame offer? "No offer, but I'm confident that will happen soon with the way that Coach Elston and Coach Kelly were talking. I talked to them before and after the game, and Coach Elston introduced me to Coach Kelly, who said that he was going to recruit the heck out of me, which is a great thing to hear from a guy like him. Once Coach VanGorder looks at my film, I'll feel good about talking with Coach Elston and Coach Kelly going into next week." Q: Does this visit improve Notre Dame's chances of landing you? Kirkland: "Oh, definitely. I definitely have to get with my family and talk things over. I need to come down from my visit high and and figure everything out. I'll think things over first." Kirkland is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 5 middle linebacker in the class of 2015. --
