Quick Hits From Practice

NOTRE DAME, Ind. (IE) – The good news is that Julius Jones returned to practice on Wednesday; the bad news is that both offensive linemen Kurt Vollers and John Teasdale missed the contact practice.

Vollers' ankle is still bothering him and Teasdale has a shoulder problem.

With Tony Fisher returning on Tuesday, it looks the Irish tailback corps will be ready for the opener at Nebraska. Davie said he expects Vollers and Teasdale to be ready, as well.

Davie said he is hopeful that Jones will take part in Friday night's scrimmage.

Again, Davie wants to simulate game conditions. Davie said the No. 1 defense and the No. 1 offensive will go against each other in Friday night's scrimmage. That's a bit of a switch. Originally, he intended to play the No. 1 offense and the No. 1 defense against everybody else.
