USAAAB: Barajas recruiting for Notre Dame

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - Notre Dame linebacker commit Josh Barajas talks about day of practice at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, including a five-star prospect he's working to sway to Notre Dame.

Named by Scout as one of the top five defenders on the West for day one of practice at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, four-star linebacker Josh Barajas "I know these kids were going to be good, but these kids are really, really good," Barajas said. "I thought I did well, but there's always room for improvement. I am fighting a little groin injury in my left leg, but overall I thought it was a great day. I'm focused on making open field tackles this week."

Five-star tight end Alize' Jones of Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman is committed to UCLA, but he's giving a serious look at Notre Dame, and Barajas is hoping to make his decision a little easier.

"We're still working on him," Barajas said. "All of the Notre Dame guys are. We are telling him you're not going to meet any better guys than the ones at Notre Dame. We are already really close. Sometimes he slips up."

Any specifics of what Jones tells Barajas?

"I don't know if I can say that," Barajas said, laughing. "I think he probably...I think he needs more time."

Ohio State running back commit Mike Weber stood out most to Barajas on the offensive side of things.

"He burned all the linebackers," Barajas said. "His feet are so fast. He's really freakin' good. He stood out to me a lot."

Barajas is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 6 outside linebacker in the class of 2015.
