Next: Looking ahead to ‘16

Get advanced notice on the top names Notre Dame will hunt next recruiting cycle with the Irish in need of help at defensive end, safety and along the offensive line.

Early word: Betiku has been talking up the possibility of visiting Notre Dame since scoring an offer this offseason. He hasn’t been playing football long but flashes high end upside.

Early word: Notre Dame offered Bledsoe almost out of the blue last month. He had already been keeping tabs on the Irish and would like to visit.

Early word: Sounds like a spring visit is in the works for Boudreaux, who saw Brian Kelly and Tony Alford visit school before National Signing Day.

Early word: Bredeson is working with a top group of Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Harry Hiestand stopped by school last month.

Early word: Corley is one of the top skill position prospects in the Midwest for the Class of 2016. Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State are heavily involved.

Early word: Notre Dame is battling Ohio State for one of its top prospects on the offensive line. Eichenberg is looking to return for junior day.

Early word: Notre Dame extended an offer to Ferns last month, getting formally involved with a familiar family. Ferns plans to make visits after basketball season.

Early word: Haskins is one of the elite quarterbacks in the Class of 2016 and has had the attention of Matt LaFleur for months. He’s already visited.

Early word: Hayes had the Irish leading at one point before visiting USC and giving the Trojans a verbal pledge. Notre Dame remains involved.

Early word: Assistant Scott Booker has been a steady presence at school in recruiting Holyfield, the son of former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield.

Early word: Jordan emerged as a top target with an offer after Hiestand visited school in January. He attends the same school that produced former Irish kicker Kyle Brindza.

Early word: King reeled in major offers all season in becoming one of the most sought after Midwest prospects. He visited during the fall.

Early word: Notre Dame reeled in an elite offensive tackle Oct. 4 when Kramer gave a verbal commitment. He’s already approaching five-star status.

Early word: Several big name programs have already come calling for Layne, including the in-state Buckeyes. Notre Dame offered early in the season.

Early word: Mack hails from the same program that produced linebacker Jaylon Smith, a close friend. Don’t count out Ohio State in this one though.

Early word: Mitchell recently released a top eight with Notre Dame still in the mix. Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State are among those also involved.

Early: Alford has been in regular contact with Mullen, an elite cornerback from one of the top talent-producing programs in Florida.

Early word: Notre Dame is one of several offers to roll in for Nixon this offseason. Speed is Nixon’s calling card.

Early word: Patterson visited South Bend during the season and is perhaps the top target overall in the Class of 2016, although it’ll be a tough pull.

Early word: Mike Elston offered Robertson last summer after a strong camp performance. Robertson, an Ohio native, is looking close at Ohio State as well.

Early word: Robertson comes from the same program that produced Notre Dame linebacker Joe Schmidt and is a likely visitor down the road.

Early word: One of the top linebackers out west, Toailoa has seen plenty of Bob Elliott over the last year. Toailoa has taken notice.

Early word: Vaughns is the top offensive prospect on the West Coast in the Class of 2016. He’s listed USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, Washington and Oklahoma as standouts.

Early word: Alford and Washington have a recruiting relationship that dates back months. He’s already visited campus as well.
