Notre Dame goes south to offer linebacker

Outside linebacker Brandon Hill of Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall Episcopal talks about his newest offer from Notre Dame and what an Irish offer means to him.

Notre Dame offered an up-and-coming name on the recruiting trail when Irish defensive coordinator offered junior outside linebacker Brandon Hill of Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall Episcopal.

“I actually found out about the offer when I saw that our athletic department put it on Twitter,” Hill said. “I talked with my head coach about it after that, and he told me that Notre Dame had just offered me. I was definitely surprised, I haven’t had a lot of contact with them. I’m supposed to talk with one of their coaches tomorrow.”

Notre Dame’s reputation resonates strongly with Hill.

“I know a lot about Notre Dame,” Hill said. “It’s Notre Dame. There’s not a lot more to say. They have a great school and a ton of tradition on the field.”

Hill also touts offers from Clemson, Duke, Georgia, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Yale, but he doesn’t yet have a list of favorites.

“I definitely don’t have favorites at this point,” Hill said. “I’m still weighing my options and figuring more about each school as the offers come in. I’m looking at the people around the school, the academics, and the overall environment.”

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker plays both running back and linebacker in high school, and he boasts a 4.59 forty-yard dash.

“All schools like me at linebacker with the option of playing defensive end,” Hill said.

Hill does not have any dates locked in for future visits, but he does plan on taking trips this spring.

“I’m not sure yet where I’m going to visit this spring, but I know I want to visit a few places,” Hill said.
