ND A-to-Z

How does Will Fuller rate against Irish receivers of the past 25 years? What’s the best case for Jaylon Smith? How does John Montelus compare to other ND guards? Irish Illustrated begins its A-to-Z series, putting every player in context, both for this season and within the past quarter century.

Is Chris Brown trending toward becoming the next Rhema McKnight or the next Duval Kamara? Could Nick Watkins really be the next Bobby Taylor or is he tracking toward Vontez Duff?

Today Irish Illustrated begins its A-to-Z series, an alphabetical roster rundown that aims to not only put Notre Dame’s talent in perspective for this season, but also place them in historical context of the past 25 years.

In the coming month we’ll hit every player on the active roster – early enrollees are included, incoming freshmen are not – to figure out what represents a best-case scenario for this season and what would signify a worst case. We’ll put each player in historical context too, stacking up their careers with Irish players during the past 25 years, measuring them against the greats, the goods and the guys you haven’t thought about since their final games.

The series will also look back at how players are living up to their recruiting rankings or perhaps falling short.

Biggest game of every player’s career? Assuming they’ve seen the field at all, we’ll get that into the mix too. And no, the Blue-Gold Game doesn’t count.

Enjoy Irish Illustrated’s deep dive into Notre Dame’s roster, from A-to-Z. Although with Josh Adams still in high school, it’s more Nicky Baratti to Malik Zaire. The series will run daily to its completion and you can track it within every player’s story.

The A-to-Z series kicks off today with Baratti, followed by Alex Bars, Hunter Bivin, Grant Blankenship, Jonathan Bonner, Justin Brent, Chris Brown, Greg Bryant and Devin Butler.
