Irish among top 5 for 4-star QB
One of the nation’s most coveted quarterbacks released his top five via Twitter on Wednesday.
“I like the program (Notre Dame) has up there, and today I plan on talking to coach (Scott) Booker to get his thoughts on me, like where I stand with them, and then I’ll go from there,” Barrett said. “But I’ve always liked Notre Dame. I like that they’re independent, and I like the system that they run.”
Barrett teamed with incoming Irish running back Dexter Williams last season.
“We are very close,” Barrett said. “I’ve known him for about six or seven years. He doesn’t try to recruit me to Notre Dame or anything, but he talks to me about his experiences with them.”
The 6-foot-2, 219-pound quarterback has yet to schedule trips for the summer, but Barrett has begun contemplating which schools will receive official visits in the fall.
“Not all of the schools in my top five will receive official visits, but Notre Dame will,” Barrett said. “And, Ole Miss.”
Barrett says depth chart and coach-player interaction will be priorities for him as he continues to engage in the recruiting process.
“The team bond, how well the players interact with the coaches, what the coaches are like off the field, the small things like that,” Barrett said.
Barrett is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 13 quarterback in the Class of 2016.
