McCulloch will visit this month

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Four-star linebacker Jeffrey McCulloch has Notre Dame among his leaders and will visit later this month with plans in the works for an official too.

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Notre Dame will receive a visit this month from one of the top performers at The Opening.

Four-star outside linebacker Jeffrey McCulloch is set to see the Irish on July 27.

McCulloch was offered by Notre Dame in mid-June, not long after the 6-foot-1, 229-pound linebacker released a top 12 of Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Houston, LSU, Michigan, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

“Notre Dame offered me after my top 12, but when I get back home before school starts I’m going to cut my list to about seven or eight schools,” McCulloch said. “Notre Dame will be on it because of its academic program.

“Wherever I go has to be a prestigious academic program. That’s been the criteria from day one. That’s the most important thing to me. I have to be sure I get a good job after college.”

On Tuesday, McCulloch finished fourth among 165 campers in the Nike Football Testing preliminaries with a score of 138.3. He advanced to the Championship in the afternoon and finished seventh.

The Scout 100 prospect says his main point of contact at Notre Dame is Brian Kelly.

“I don’t really talk to any of the assistants,” McCulloch said. “But (contact with Notre Dame) has been a lot, a lot. The head coach direct messaged me today and said good luck, we’re out here rooting for you at Notre Dame.”

McCulloch plans to take all five official visits and announce a decision at one of the All-American games in January.

“(Official visits) are planned on my head, but on paper, not yet,” Jones said. “The ones that I know are UCLA, Stanford, Notre Dame and Florida. I’ll have one left to decide.”

McCulloch intends to learn more about Notre Dame’s football plans for him during his unofficial visit.

“When I take my trip up there in a couple of weeks we are going to cover all of that,” McCulloch said. “I’m a good 20 yards and under cover. Pretty much anything that gets thrown in that area, if the running back gets out there, a flare route, a bubble, quick slants, anything like that, I guard it very, very well.”

In addition to Notre Dame, McCulloch will take unofficial visits to Texas and LSU in July.

Scout ranks McCulloch as a four-star prospect and the No. 1 outside linebacker in the Midlands and No. 5 outside linebacker overall. Top Stories
