Commit Recap: Claypool dominates

Get a full rundown of Notre Dame’s 20 commitments after last weekend’s action. The Irish may have a steal on their hands in Chase Claypool after a four-touchdown performance.

Ian Book 
Oak Ridge improved to 8-0 with a 24-21 win over Loomis (Calif.) Del Oro. Book went 20-of-30 for 210 yards and a 30-yard touchdown. He rushed for 50 yards and another score. 

Parker Boudreaux 
Boudreaux and Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore defeated Tavares, 56-0, to improve to 8-0.

Chase Claypool
Abbotsford (B.C.) defeated Pitt Meadows, 42-0, to improve to 5-1. Claypool caught four passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns. He had one rush for 28 yards and a 65-yard punt return for touchdown. On defense he had seven tackles.

Liam Eichenberg 
St. Ignatius (4-2) passed for a school-record 456 yards and built a 24-point lead, but Moeller rallied, kicking a pair of late field goals to defeat the Wildcats, 55-52. St. Ignatius hosts St. Xavier on Friday.

Jalen Elliott 
Elliott completed 7-of-12 passes for 100 yards with two touchdowns and picked off a pass on defense for L.C. Bird (7-0) in a 34-6 win over Cosby.

Dillan Gibbons '17 
Tampa (Fla.) Northside Christian (7-0) defeated Indian Rocks Christian 42-21.

Jamir Jones 
Jones caught one pass for 25 yards and was second on the team with eight tackles in a 42-14 win for Aquinas Institute (7-0) over previously undefeated Canisius. The Little Irish play Fairport on Saturday.

Tony Jones 
IMG Academy (6-0) had a bye this weekend. Jones Jr. took his official visit to Notre Dame.

Cole Kmet '17 
Kmet posted four catches for 55 yards, plus eight tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble, but St. Viator (1-7) got shut out, 13-0, by St. Patrick.

Tommy Kraemer 
Elder (5-2) managed just 161 yards and 11 first downs in a 14-0 loss to Winton Woods. It was the Panthers’ first regular season shutout loss in eight seasons.

Julian Love 
Love had 12 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns as Nazareth Academy (6-2) won a 62-45 shootout against Marist, clinching a playoff berth and chance to defend the state title.

Josh Lugg '17 
Lugg played just the first half of North Allegheny’s 56-6 win over Fox Chapel on Friday. The Tigers (6-1), who led 42-0 at the break, host Greater Latrobe on Friday.

D.J. Morgan 
Morgan recorded six tackles for St. John Bosco (6-0) in a 42-21 win over Mater Dei. The Braves host Serra Catholic on Friday.

Ade Ogundeji 
Walled Lake Central (1-7) lost 37-20 to Milford. Ogundeji, who remains sidelined with a knee injury, visited Notre Dame on Saturday.

Julian Okwara 
Ardrey Kell (4-3) defeated Providence, 26-17. Okwara didn’t make it to South Bend for the weekend but will likely attend his brother’s Senior Day next month.

Spencer Perry 
IMG Academy (6-0) had a bye this weekend. Perry is out for the season with a shoulder injury and took his official visit to Notre Dame.

John Shannon 
Shannon made about eight tackles at linebacker for Loyola Academy (8-0) in a 56-14 win against St. Rita.

Kevin Stepherson 
First Coast (2-5) defeated Lee 20-18 in overtime. Stepherson took his official visit to Notre Dame this weekend.

Donte Vaughn
Whitehaven (7-1) cruised to a 33-0 win over Bartlett. The Tigers play at Collierville on Friday. 

Brock Wright '17 
Despite a lost Wright fumble early in the game, Cy-Fair (5-2) ground out a physical 21-13 win over previously unbeaten Cypress Falls.
